Maybelline Colour Tattoo Cream Eyeshadow Review emilyloula

First up, if you haven’t tried a cream eyeshadow of any sort, but are a lover of a good eyeshadow, you’re seriously missing out. Cream eyeshadows have taken the beauty world by storm in the last year, and very rightly so. When done properly, they are the perfect base and primer for other shadows as well as being a lazy girl’s dream for a quick all over the lid colour.
I’ve tried a fair few variations of a cream eyeshadow, but my personal favourite and the ones I keep leaning towards are the Maybelline Color Tattoo’s. The first shade I picked up from this range was Immortal Charcoal, which is a deep blue toned grey, and to be brutally honest I’m really not a fan of this shade. However, it wasn’t the shade that caught my attention but the creamy consistency that sets almost immediately and lasts all day.

Since picking up my first shade of Color Tattoo, I’ve been hooked. Every time I pass a Maybelline counter I’m scouting to see if any more shades that have been released, or if there is a beautiful shade that has somehow passed under my radar. I know that the shade range in America is much better than it is here, for which I am utterly jealous, but there are a good few beautiful shades available here in the UK and throughout the most of world (I believe?)
Alongside the regular Color Tattoo’s, there is an extra line of ‘Leather’ versions, that has a few different shades, but again I think the majority of these are only available in America. These have a slightly different and thicker, consistency than the original line, and I personally prefer this. I did manage to snap up ‘Creamy Beige’, which is the only shade of this range I’ve seen here in the UK, and this is my favourite of them all. If anyone knows where I can get my hands on the others in this line, I would love it if you could let me know!

Out of the six shades I’ve got, five of them are the original Color Tattoo’s and although I do prefer the Leather versions, the originals are still pretty outstanding. They have a really lovely, creamy consistency which is so easy to apply, and they don’t crease on me at all. I literally dip my finger into the pot and apply directly onto my eyelid, blending out slightly with my finger. Maybelline say these last for 24 hours, and although I would say they don’t live up to this claim, they do last a good 18 or so hours, which I think is extremely impressive. Who wears eyeshadow for 24 hours anyway?!
As I previously mentioned, Creamy Beige is my favourite out of the 6 that I own, and one that I’ve been wearing on a near daily basis. It gives the most gorgeous, neutral wash of colour, perfect for daily wear, and it can be applied in seconds. It’s fantastic for concealing any imperfections on my eyelids when worn alone, or a gorgeous base for a nude smoky eye.
My favourite from the original Color Tattoo line is On & On Bronze, which as the name suggests, is a gorgeous bronze shade with a lovely shimmer coming from underneath – without screaming glitterball. I was quite sceptical when I picked up Pink Gold, as I’ve always been wary of wearing pink shadows, in case I look like I have an eye infection. I can safely say this isn’t the case with this shade – it looks lovely as a base alone or paired with some deeper pinks / mauvey colours in the corners or crease.
