REVIEW : KIKO VELVET MAT LIPSTICKS
3:59 AM
I think it’s often tricky to find a matte lipstick that doesn’t dry out your lips or tug upon application, but I have to say, KIKO have really hit the nail on the head with this formula. It contains K2 Repulp, which is a multi-function plant extract that helps to plump, energise, moisturise and revitalise your lips alongside anti ageing prevention thanks to Collagen and Sirtuin 1. With only one swipe of the lipstick, the finish is opaque, thanks to exclusive high-melting waxes that give amazing pigmentation for a high coverage effect.
As a result of a great line up of ingredients, the texture of these lipsticks are silky, light and comfortable with a definite hint of moisture – very uncommon from a matte formula. These lipsticks are described to have a Satin Matte finish, which I think is exactly right. They’re not a full on matte, as they have a very slight sheen to them but I personally thinks this makes them even more attractive once applied.
Since these lipsticks are so creamy, I am definitely impressed with the staying power, as wear time is around 5-6 hours before they start to fade. I also find that they fade evenly, without leaving that dreaded patchy look, which can often be the case. Quite a few matte lipsticks in my collection will really show the true condition of your lips to the world, with every tiny dry patch sticking out like a sore thumb, but this really isn’t the case with this formula. I find that it actually smooths out my lips, almost filling in all the lines and imperfections, giving an overall more polished look.
Honestly, I’m not sure I’ve ever tried another lipstick like these, they give the most beautiful unique finish as well as having such a creamy comfortable consistency that I absolutely love wearing. I genuinely can’t believe that they retail for only £6.90 – I would definitely pay a lot more than that, as the quality of these is amazing – both the formula and packaging. At this price they’re on par with many highstreet / drugstore brands such as Maybelline or MaxFactor but I truly believe they rival, if not beat, many higher end alternatives.
These lipsticks have very quickly become my favourites ever and coming from a lipstick addict that is definitely saying something. I honestly don’t have a bad thing to say about these and I would recommend them to absolutely everyone (I literally do).
